RKS Student in the News!

Newmarket student, Leah Hans, (one of our recent Black Belt recipients!) is cutting her hair on June 7th, 2008, to donate to Angel Hair for Kids. Her hair will be used to help make a wig for a Canadian child with cancer or severe burns.

She is also raising money to be directed toward fighting childhood cancers. The Leah Hans Fundraiser for Childhood Cancer is registered with the Newmarket Office of the Canadian Cancer Society. Donations to her fundraiser will remain in our community through their Community Partnerships Program.

Cancer is the leading disease-related cause of death of children in Canada. When Leah’s cousin was diagnosed with leukemia a few years ago, it had a big impact on her and she decided she wanted to do something to help other children.

You can make a donation to Leah’s worthy cause:

  • calling the Newmarket Office of the Canadian Cancer Society at (905) 830-0447 for credit card donations, or
  • mailing a cheque payable to the Canadian Cancer Society to 30 Prospect Street, Newmarket, ON L3Y 3S9, or
  • hand-delivering a cheque or cash to Daniel, Joanne or Leah Hans, to be added to Leah’s pledge form.
